The online exhibition translates an illustrated essay into an interactive exploration of Newport’s layered history. Organized into case studies of place, Mapping the Newport Experience includes archival images, maps, essay text, and historical excerpts to create a cultural narrative of place-based art, architecture, and writing. The site is intended to engage visitors with a perhaps familiar place in new ways, allowing for discovery, and to showcase the richness and depth of the Newport Historical Society’s collection.
